Michele Ekstrom began twirling at the age of ten and instantly fell in love with the sport. Over the years, she experienced many successes at the state and national levels:
Multiple NBTA State Solo, 2-Baton, and Duet titles
Jr. and Sr. Miss Majorette of Arizona
Top ten in the prestigious Sr. Miss Majorette of America Competition
2nd Place in the National Modeling Competition
5th Place NBTA National Sr. Strut Champion
When Michele was asked to instruct at the Camp of Champs, she fell in love again...with teaching. After graduating high school, Michele attended Arizona State University, where she received a BA in Elementary Education and a Masters in Special Education.
As an elementary and junior high school teacher for thirty-one years, Michele understands how students learn, and works with each twirler's individual needs and abilities to achieve maximum success. No cookie-cutter routines, no mandatory tricks, all twirlers are encouraged to participate in the development of challenging, yet comfortable, routines.

If you ask her students, they'll tell you that Coach Ekstrom believes twirling isn't only about working hard, it's also about having fun. As an experienced educator she knows that the best learning occurs when students are happy and comfortable in class. Whether it's a supportive smile during lessons, a good luck gift on competition day, or one of her annual parties, Michele incorporates fun in all she does for her twirlers.
As a long-time twirler herself, and also a mother of a college-level twirler, Coach Ekstrom knows that trophies and medals often end up collecting dust in the garage, but the friendships made between twirlers can last a lifetime. To foster a welcoming atmosphere, she encourages good sportsmanship and a supportive competition environment for twirlers and parents!
